McArthur Crime File: Columbus man arrested on multiple charges

From the McArthur Police Department

Mark Wayne Cook
On July 23 at approximately 11:50 p.m., Officer Walker responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at 443 S. Market St. Upon arrival, Walker and Lt. Neel made contact with Mark Cook, 45 of Columbus. Walker also made contact with Cindy Cox, the girlfriend of Cook.

After further investigation and speaking with multiple witnesses, Walker and Lt. Neel determined that Cook did instigate a domestic disturbance involving Cox. Cook allegedly held Cox against her will as she attempted to leave the area.

Walker and Neel attempted to place Cook under arrest who is alleged to have physically resisted and had to be subdued by both officers. The Vinton County Court set bond at $5,000 or 10% and Cook remains in custody at the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail pending an Aug. 20 arraignment.

A felony charge of abduction by restraint of liberty, misdemeanor charges of domestic violence, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct by intoxication were forwarded to the Vinton County Prosecutor’s office for review.
