Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to North Third Street in Jacksonville in response to a residential burglar alarm. No signs of forced entry were evident and the scene was secured.

Deputy Atkins and a Highway Patrol trooper responded to Torch Road in response to multiple reports of a female subject possibly harming herself. Atkins determined the subject had harmed herself and needed medical attention. According to Atkins, the subject became aggressive and allegedly grabbed a knife and began slicing at her throat and arms. Atkins alleges the subject lunged at him and made several gestures to the trooper if she was going to throw the knife at him.

After additional deputies arrived at the scene, the subject was reportedly tasered, handcuffed and transported to O'Bleness Memorial Hospital for evaluation and treatment of her wounds.

Deputies responded to a dispute involving a firearm  on Koehler Lane in Guysville. A female caller stated her live-in boyfriend had threatened to kill her and himself. Deputies allegedly found a handgun in the suspect's pocket and he was taken into custody without incident. The suspect was charged with domestic violence and using weapons while intoxicated and transported to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail in Nelsonville.


On October 18, deputies responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Lemaster Road in Athens. The caller was said a vehicle was sitting in front of her residence with the hazard lights on. Deputies arrived on scene, made contact with the vehicle’s owner who advised she had ran out of gas. Deputies remained on scene with the vehicle until the owner returned with gas.

On October 19, the Belpre Police Department notified the Athens County Sheriff's Office that Jason Dotson, 39, of Parkersburg, W. Va. Was in custody. Dotson had two active warrants from Athens County for alleged possession of marijuana and trafficking in marijuana, both felonies of the third degree. Lt. John Morris met with Belpre Police, took custody of Dotson and transported him to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail in Nelsonville.
